Car Hire Biggin Hill
Whenever you go to collect a hire car, hire van or hire minibus, you’ll need to bring along certain documents. Without these documents, your vehicle hire agreement may fall through and you may not be able to drive away in your hire car.
While there are some differences between vehicle hire companies, most will generally expect you to bring the following documents:
- the driving licence (paper part and photocard if you have a later type licence) of each named driver of the hire car, and details of any points or penalties
- a credit or debit card in the name of the person hiring the car, van or minibus
- proofs of address for each person named as a driver for the hire car, such as utilities bills or bank statements
- if you have an old-style driving licence without a photo, you may need to show your passport.
If you forget your driving licence when you go to pick up your hire car, you may still be able to hire the car, if the car hire company can phone the DVLA to confirm your details and entitlement to drive. However, you’ll normally have to pay for this, so it’s much easier and cheaper to remember your documents in the first place.
